Watermelon Cocktail

summer cocktails never tasted so sweet.

This recipe came about from an overly ripe watermelon that needed to be used up fast. Thanks to a little mixology this accidental cocktail has become one of our summer staples.

I prefer to use a citrusy gin, but a vodka would also work well. Flavour infused gins/vodkas would also make for an amazing twist— looks like it’s back to mixology class! — CFG


Ingredients

(Recipe makes 1 cocktail)

  • 1 cup of seedless watermelon (per cocktail), chilled and cubed

  • Club Soda or sparkling fruit-flavoured soda

    (eg Bubly Watermelon or Cherry, -OR- The Great Gentleman’s Watermelon & Hibiscus soda

  • 1 sprig of fresh mint

  • 1 1/2 oz of gin or vodka


Directions

  1. Place 1 cup of cubed, seedless watermelon in a cocktail glass and muddle until fruit is a smooth pulp.

  2. Add 1 1/2 oz of your preferred gin or vodka and half a can of soda to 2/3 full. Stir gently with a bartender’s spoon.

  3. Add 2-3 ice cubes (not needed of watermelon and mix is chilled) and top with a fresh sprig of mint.

  4. Serve and enjoy!
